Kim cover's harvesting, feeding, bolting and growing lettuces in hot weather.  Information for every gardening zone! Lettuces are cool weather crops that enjoy 44-50 degree nights and 60-70 degree days. Once the temperatures start getting hot it tends to bolt to flower and produce seeds. That is when your lettuces tend to turn bitter. So get them out early! They can actually handle and frost and light freeze as their leaves can freeze through and thaw without damage.  They make great spring crops and don't forget the fall.
